General information

Trackdays at Circuit Clastres are the perfect choice for people attending their first-ever trackday. The track is considered very safe with wide runoff areas which give you plenty of room to stop the car before coming near the few barriers which are at a great distance from the track. This is a great track to build confidence, experience trackdays in a safe environment and is a good balance between decent speeds and twisty challenging bends. This is an excellent track for small and nimble sportscars but is also suited for more powerful sportscars.

Circuit Guide (Long Lay-out)

When passing the pitlane, stay as far right as possible. You can turn in the first left hander (1) quite agressively and clip the inside curb on the apex, followed by a wide exit. Immediately after, cut to the left side of the track, go easy on the brake and start turn in on the (2) hairpin. This long hairpin is a quite narrow part of the track so it's important to be wide on entry. Try to get the wheel straight as soon as possible and increase acceleration out of the corner. Unlike other corners, it is important to avoid the curb and astroturf on the exit. If you have to use it, this means you either were on throttle too soon or turned into the apex too early. This corner is hard to master at first but has significant impact on momentum if not taken properly.

The left hand bend (3) is pretty straight forward but be careful: there is a very slight disinclination / inconsistency in the track which may cause understeer if not turned in properly. Make sure, specially on mid-engined cars, to always have some input (either braking or acceleration) thru this corner and not coast thru which may unsettle the car. For the next left hander bend (4), make sure to be aligned on the right and turn-in agressive on this corner. There is a lot of curb that you can and should use to maximize your exit speed and which enables you to get on the throttle early!

Following is a fast right (5) - left (6) combination. Hug the inside of the corner on the right hander (5) so you are aligned to the right for the very fast left hander (6). In most cars, both these corners are flat-out but on cars with lesser downforce, it is very important to be aligned properly for turn-in on the left corner (6). On entry, don't be afraid to agressively clip the wide and long inside curb and carry maximum speed thru the corner and be prepared to cut far left to align for the fast double right hander (7 & 8). These 2 corners are basically seen as a single long corner with a double apex. Fade off the brakes on turn-in and hit the apex on turn (7), which allows you to use a bit of curb. Don't go too deep into the curb as there are obstacles on the curb itself that may unsettle the car when driving over them. Increase acceleration after the apex , going wide to the left to allow you a perfect driving line to turn in harder for the inside curb of turn 8. In this turn, also usage of curb is allowed but once again, don't go to deep into the curb as it may unsettle the car at one of the fastest corners of the track. Accelerate out of the corner into the straight, aligning it to the left at the end of the straight.

The right hander (9) is the most intense braking zone on the circuit where you need to slow down the car significantly from the highest straight line speed on the circuit. The inside curb can be clipped quite agressively and exit wide hitting the outside curb for maximum speed thru the corner. Then it's on to section 10, a left-right combination. Important here is to sacrifice the left turn-in and not go too wide on exit so you are able to align the car properly for a fast exit in the right hander. The left turn-in has a lot of useable curb so use it agressively, which will allow you to align as much to the left as possible before the right hander turn-in. On the right hander, the curb can be clipped also very easily. The final section (11) of the circuit has a sharp right hander, followed by a twisty left-right section. If you don't go to wide on the exit of the initial right hander, the follow up left-right can be taken under full acceleration which will take you past the pitlane area and ready for another lap at Circuit Clastres!
